Shochugeiko 2005
Day 6: Hijishime and Hijiate Kokyu Nage

Forward Rolling Breakfalls
Tai no Henko-2

Yokomen Uchi Hijishime-1
Yokomen Uchi Hijiate Kokyu Nage-2
Katate Mochi Hijiate Kokyu Nage-1 (Kagari-geiko)
Shomen Uchi Hijishime-1 (Kagari-geiko)

Class of 9, my attempt to train with David failed...

Feels like…my brain is draining…it’s even hard to remember techniques we just did right after the training… Also, it’s so easy to get lost during the class for what to do…All I can do now is to do whatever I’m told to do without much of thinking…

Yes, Kangeiko was just like that only it was held in a very cold time, now its very sticky and hot…

Today, our teacher Stumpy was the only black belt on the mat. Our other teacher, Roland, was missing because he was on a business trip.
I was called for his Uke for demonstrations, and I ended up having a hard time finding out the movements as Shite not having a chance to watch them. It made my brain completely blank when I started doing a totally different technique for Shomen Uchi Hijishime-1 as we did with Kagarigeiko, and I wasn’t even able to move my brain nor body when one of my fellow buddies suggested me to give an advice for a guy who was having a bit hard time getting his elbow for a Hijishime position…

I tend to move on a rhythm once I get the movements. It’s a lot of fun way to train, yet I have to go back to a slower pace when I can not move Uke at all, because it’s only proving that I am not doing quite correctly. An interesting point I found is that I used to lose my balance so easily when I tried to do this way in winter time (6-7 months ago), and “I think” I am doing better for attempting the same in these days.
